• The flower pappus is 14 to 18 mm long, with almost spreading, drooping awl-shaped teeth that are 4 – 5 times longer than the pinnate tube. The calyx is purple-red, rarely white, and yellowish with a purplish color. The upper lobe is shorter than the lower one, which is circular-rectangular. The lower lope has a circular central lobe with a fluffy edge.
