The gum is obtained by two natural and artificial methods.
In the natural method, it is formed by insect bites and scratches caused when the wind hits the branches.
In the artificial method, a thick gum is obtained, which is called latex, by cutting a slit on the branches, trunks and stems with a length of 60 cm.
In the early fall, degumming usually begins by local farmers after the winds called Harmattan.
The stronger the current of the winds, the more the produced gums.

Arabane and Galactane are the two main constituents of this gum, and the hydrolysis of the two substances produces arabinose and galactose.
